For the seventh consecutive year, University of Detroit Mercy has been recognized as one of the top universities in the country.

One alumnus from each of the seven schools is selected for the honor from nominations submitted from both inside and outside the University.

Zaynab Alhisnawi was drawn to UDM because of its values of compassion, respect for all voices and meaningful engagement. These aspects aligned with Alhisnawi’s approach to design, one that encompasses the concept of working with and for community members and integrating their perspectives and spirit into her designs.

The 'Opportunity College and University' designation highlights UDM as a model institution for fostering student success and advancing research on effective campus practices.

This designation puts UDM among just 216 other institutions nationwide to receive this distinction. It identifies research happening at colleges and universities that historically have not been recognized for their research activity, including institutions that do not offer many or any doctoral degrees.
