Digital Media Studies (DMS)
The Digital Media Studies (DMS) major is a unique program combining theory, design and technology. Rooted in interdisciplinary studies, DMS is designed to prepare graduates for work in digital media fields such as graphic design, web authoring, branding, print, video and video game design. In addition, students must choose a Minor to complement their interdisciplinary studies. The program requires that DMS Majors receive a 'C' or higher grade in all DMS courses. Laptop computers are required for DMS 2910, 3910, 4910 and 4911 studios.
Through the four-year Bachelor of Arts curriculum, DMS students are prepared for jobs in graphic design, web design, video game design and other digital media professions. Student are encouraged to create unique design solutions by exploring, experimenting, discovering and developing a unique digital "voice" within today's digital culture. Inspired by professionally based situations, studio projects range from "branding" design, including websites, logos, posters, business cards and letterhead to video game design, documentary films and experimental gallery installations.
